SUMMARY:Ring Cycles 2 Day Workshop - Ballarat
DESCRIPTION:Swings + Roundabouts by Lorena Uriarte \nI am thrilled to have the permission from Lessa Siegele to teach a workshop based on her Ring Cycles quilt. We will explore different options for making this fantastic pattern into your own beautiful quilt. Use low volume backgrounds with brights\, colourful large scale prints or make a gorgeous two colour quilt. \n \nClass size will be limited to 16 people. The class will be held off site from Cotton Factory\, with full details emailed to all participants. \nDay 1 would be cutting\, making 9 patches and choosing middle hexagon method eg. Appliqued flower\, pieced star\, or plain hexagon. Day 2 is learning how to sew your quilt together. \nCloser to the date you will receive a detailed requirements list. I used and recommend Marti Michell set H and I’ve also had setting triangles made up in acrylic templates. These are entirely optional (and will be available for purchase)\, and really helpful if you intend to make a big quilt. \nIf you want to simply learn the techniques and not make a huge quilt\, cardboard templates will be sufficient. \nTuition\, your pattern and catering are all included in your class fee.

DESCRIPTION:olourful\, vibrant\, creative – patchwork blocks are the beginning of a heirloom quilt\, or can be used on their own in clothing or other accessories. Discover how to make patchwork blocks as you learn about colour and design\, piecing\, applique and drafting. \nMaterials required for the first night \nPlease bring a pen and notepad. Your tutor will discuss materials needed for subsequent weeks on the first night. \nFrom week 2 you will need to bring fabric\, basic sewing kit and sewing machine (optional). \nLearning Outcomes \nBy the end of the course participants should have: \n\ngained a knowledge of patchwork and quilting equipment and materials\nlearned how to use hand or machine piece a variety of patchwork blocks\nlearned how to use a rotary cutter safely\ngained an understanding of quilting terminology\ngained confidence in using a variety of print and coloured materials\n\nPlease note:\nAll courses need a minimum number of students to run.
