Hand Quilting Essentials @ UsefulBox Sewing School (Marrickville)

Hand Quilting adds a certain extra pizazz to your quilts and is a skill very easy to learn.
In this class, you will learn all about what threads and needles to use, how to begin and end your stitches, and lots of tips and tricks along the way.
We will be using a simple quilt sandwich of plain fabrics and batting. However, if you have some orphan blocks at home, please do bring them along to work on.
Suitable for beginners, adventurous beginner to advanced sewists.
What you will learn:
- Basic hand quilting principles
- How to start and finish ends of the quilting
- What thread to use
- Techniques for tension, how to use the needle and what stitches are best.
What is included:
- A full kit including needle, thread, fabrics – You are welcome to bring along a small quilt or a Patchwork block
- A take home reference sheet
- Exceptional tuition with 5 others in the class
- Copious cups of tea and coffee
What you need to bring
- Your glasses, if you need them
- You are welcome to bring fabric of your own if you would like to use up your stash
- Your lunch – Microwave and Fridge available.
