Patchwork Blocks :: Randwick

olourful, vibrant, creative – patchwork blocks are the beginning of a heirloom quilt, or can be used on their own in clothing or other accessories. Discover how to make patchwork blocks as you learn about colour and design, piecing, applique and drafting.

Materials required for the first night

Please bring a pen and notepad. Your tutor will discuss materials needed for subsequent weeks on the first night.

From week 2 you will need to bring fabric, basic sewing kit and sewing machine (optional).

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants should have:

  • gained a knowledge of patchwork and quilting equipment and materials
  • learned how to use hand or machine piece a variety of patchwork blocks
  • learned how to use a rotary cutter safely
  • gained an understanding of quilting terminology
  • gained confidence in using a variety of print and coloured materials

All courses need a minimum number of students to run. If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
