GF Caramel Brownies

an easy gluten free recipe for caramel brownies

Easy and quick gluten free recipe, perfect for taking to parties and quilt guild meetings!
Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ cup coconut flour
  • 1 cup caramel buttons (or lindt chocolate with caramel chips!)
Instructions
  1. Melt butter and cocoa in a saucepan, stir
  2. Whisk eggs, sugar and vanilla in a bowl
  3. add in the coconut flour and mix till there are no lumps.
  4. mix into the cooled chocolate mix
  5. stir through caramel.
  6. bake 160C 30-35 mins

What a wonderful foundation paper piecing workshop we had at Addicted 2 Fabric in Canberra last weekend! Canberra turned on its most splendid Spring weather two weekends in a row for me. And everyone at the shop was most lovely and accommodating.

I incorporated two commercially available foundation paper piecing patterns to make Rainbow Reverb; the centre is Janice Ryan’s New York Beauty Circle of Flying Geese and the four Poinsettia Star corner blocks are from Beth Maddocks of Piece by Number.

Both these patterns are fabulous and a great way to conquer your fear of foundation paper piecing. All the glorious, sharp points came to life in a wide range of fabrics. I love seeing how students put their own stamp on a project. Can’t wait to see them finished!

Addicted 2 Fabric have an extensive selection of solids and an interesting range of patchwork and dressmaking fabrics. I picked up some gorgeous Echino and a Tessuti pattern to make the Eva Dress. I’ll let you know how that goes 😉

Lorena Uriarte

Lorena Uriarte is a Sydney-based modern quilting teacher and is also an experienced teacher of vegetarian cooking.
Modern quilting is a broad discipline which has evolved from the traditional craft practised by both English gentlewomen and American pioneers, and is now a term used by contemporary quilters to cover a wide range of styles and techniques.
Lorena’s quilting classes focus on techniques from simple to advanced, such as foundation paper piecing, applique, curved piecing and Y seams. Lorena also advises about colour theory and design principles, as well as setting up your sewing equipment as efficiently as possible.
She teaches in a number of locations around Sydney, and interstate workshops on request. A range of her quilts and quilted items, which can be made in the one-day workshops, can be seen on the gallery page. Quilting classes include both machine and hand piecing.

Lorena is a caterer and cooking teacher who  has advocated healthy and interesting food for many years. She has cooked in many contexts, from restaurants to private catering for small and large numbers. She teaches vegetarian cooking in inner Sydney and the classes can be found in the calendar.

On this website you will find Lorena’s quilting blog, free tutorials and patterns. Tutorials include techniques for her patterns and common quilting skills. You will also find the shop page where some patterns and templates will be available for sale.

Lorena is the president of the Greater Western Sydney Modern Quilt Guild and a member of the Quilters Guild of NSW.
In addition you will find her vegetarian recipes, all kitchen-ready and many of them examples from her cooking classes. Lorena has a world view of cuisine, which informs her cooking and teaching.
